Payments

Record a payment

Log a rent or deposit payment against a tenancy.

OneRental does not process payments directly — it is a ledger for recording payments you receive outside the platform (cash, e-transfer, cheque, etc.).

Record a rent payment

Go to Payments or open the lease and navigate to the Payments tab.

Click Record payment.

Fill in:

  • Amount — the amount received.
  • Date — the date the payment was received.
  • Payment method — bank transfer, cash, cheque, credit card, debit card, online, or other.
  • Reference — optional (e.g. a transfer reference number or cheque number).
  • Notes — any internal notes about the payment.

Save. The payment is applied to the current rent period and the balance updates.

Record a security deposit

When a tenant pays their security deposit, record it the same way but set the Type to Security deposit. The deposit is tracked separately from rent.

Partial payments

If a tenant pays a partial amount, record the amount received. OneRental calculates the outstanding balance and flags it as partially paid.

You can delete a payment record if it was entered in error, or mark it as paid if its status needs correcting. Open the payment from the history to do either.

Overdue and late fees

Understand how overdue balances work and how to apply late fees.

Properties & Units

Manage your rental portfolio — properties, units, and their details.
