Renewal Radar

The Leases dashboard shows a "Renewal Radar" list of active leases expiring within the next 60 days, and a "Renewal Backlog" for leases expiring 60–120 days out, so you can plan ahead before a tenancy lapses.

Preparing a renewal offer

From a lease's detail page (or the "Prepare offer" button in the Renewal Backlog), click Prepare renewal. This creates a new draft lease for the same tenant and unit, carrying over the rent, deposit, payment terms, and auto-renew setting from the expiring lease — with the term shifted to start the day after the current lease ends. Review and adjust the draft (rent increase, updated dates, etc.) before activating it.

Activating the renewal draft automatically marks the original lease as Renewed — you don't need to terminate it manually. A lease can only have one renewal offer in progress at a time.

What happens if a lease expires with no renewal

• If the lease has auto-renew enabled and no renewal draft was activated by the end date, OneRental automatically rolls it forward month-to-month (the lease stays active with the end date pushed out a month at a time). This is shown as a "Month-to-month" badge on the lease.
• If auto-renew is off and no renewal was activated, the lease is marked Expired once its end date passes, so the gap surfaces as a required action instead of being silently ignored.

This check runs daily.

Rent increases

When preparing a renewal offer, update the monthly rent on the draft to reflect any increase before activating it. Check your local tenancy regulations for any required notice period or limits on how much rent can be increased — OneRental does not enforce jurisdiction-specific rent increase rules.
