Two-factor authentication
Protect your account with two-factor authentication.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second verification step when you sign in, protecting your account even if your password is compromised.
Enable 2FA
Go to Account → Security.
Click Enable two-factor authentication.
Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, etc.).
Enter the 6-digit code from the app to confirm and activate 2FA.
Save your backup codes in a secure location. These are single-use codes you can use if you lose access to your authenticator app.
Signing in with 2FA
After entering your email and password, you will be prompted for the 6-digit code from your authenticator app. Enter the current code to complete sign-in.
Backup codes
When you enable 2FA, you receive a set of one-time backup codes. Keep these somewhere safe — they are the only way to recover access if you lose your authenticator device.
If you use a backup code, you should re-generate your backup codes immediately from Security settings.
Disable 2FA
To disable 2FA, go to Account → Security and click Disable two-factor authentication. You will be asked to enter your current 2FA code to confirm.
Disabling 2FA reduces the security of your account. Only do this if you are switching to a new authenticator app or device, and re-enable it immediately after.
Passkeys
As an alternative to 2FA, OneRental supports passkeys (device-based biometric authentication). You can register a passkey from Account → Security.
